Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of a popular Wikipedia page every day.

With 275,781 views on Tuesday, 01 August 2017 our article of the day is Anthony Scaramucci.

Anthony Scaramucci ( skerr-ə-MOO-chee; born January 6, 1964), also known as "The Mooch", is an American financier, lawyer, and political figure.

A graduate of Tufts University and Harvard Law School, Scaramucci worked at Goldman Sachs's Investment Banking, Equities, and Private Wealth Management divisions from 1989 to 1996. After leaving Goldman Sachs, he founded Oscar Capital Management, and in 2005, he founded the investment firm SkyBridge Capital.

On July 21, 2017, Scaramucci was appointed White House Communications Director. He began work on July 25, although he had not yet been sworn in. Days into his tenure, Scaramucci provoked controversy after an expletive-laden interview he gave to the The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza, in which he made false and derogatory statements about Trump Administration personnel (notably, he falsely claimed Chief of Staff Reince Priebus had committed a felony by referring to publicly available records about Scaramucci's finances). Ten days into the job, he was fired from the post by President Donald Trump on the recommendation of the new White House Chief of Staff, General John F. Kelly, who started that day.
