It spun off from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, a similar organization, in 1997 to focus on Social Security law. Gateway primarily handles Social Security Disability (DIB) claims, Supplemental Security Income claims, and some consumer-law cases. The firm has more than 1,000 open cases at any one time.
