Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of a popular Wikipedia page every day.

With 369,171 views on Friday, 21 October 2022 our article of the day is Midnights.

Midnights is the tenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on October 21, 2022, via Republic Records. Announced at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, the album marks Swift's first body of new work since her 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore. Midnights is a concept album about nocturnal contemplation, written and produced by Swift with Jack Antonoff as the main collaborator.

Swift described Midnights as a "journey through terrors and sweet dreams", inspired by "13 sleepless nights" of her life. She adopted a glamorous visual aesthetic for the album, drawing from 1970s fashion and graphic design. Eschewing the alternative folk sound of Folklore and Evermore, Swift explores electronic, synth-pop, and chill-out music styles in Midnights, achieved by subtle grooves, programmed beats and atmospheric synthesizers. Its subject matter features confessional yet cryptic lyrics, discussing self-criticism, self-assurance, insecurity, anxiety and insomnia. Upon release, Midnights was met with widespread acclaim from music critics, who praised its restrained production, experimentation, and candid songwriting.

Following negligible promotion of her previous studio albums, Swift returned to her traditional album roll-out with Midnights. She unveiled the tracklist through a TikTok series called Midnights Mayhem with Me from September 21 to October 7, 2022. The fourth track, "Snow on the Beach", features Lana Del Rey. A trailer teasing several visuals for the album was released on October 20, followed by a surprise release of seven bonus tracks and the premiere of the music video for the first single, "Anti-Hero", on October 21.
