The 2022 Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections were held on Monday, May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 general election. This was the 17th direct presidential election and 16th vice presidential election in the Philippines since 1935, and the sixth sextennial presidential and vice presidential election since 1992.
Under the 1987 Philippine Constitution, incumbent president Rodrigo Duterte was ineligible for re-election as he is limited to a single term, while incumbent vice president Leni Robredo was eligible for re-election but chose to run for the presidency instead. Therefore, this election will determine the 17th president and the 15th vice president. The position of president and vice president are elected separately, the two winning candidates could thus come from different political parties.
Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte led the preliminary count with 58.8% and 61.1% of the vote for president and vice president respectively. The Congress of the Philippines will meet in late May to canvass the results and proclaim the winners of the election.
