The 81st Golden Globe Awards honored the best in film and American television productions of 2023. The ceremony was broadcast live on January 7, 2024, from The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, beginning at 5:00 p.m. PST / 8:00 p.m. EST, on CBS in the United States. It was produced by Dick Clark Productions, Ricky Kirshner, and Glenn Weiss; the latter also served as director. This was the first ceremony after Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries took full control of the Golden Globes from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The ceremony was also the first to air live on CBS in the United States since 1982. Comedian Jo Koy hosted the ceremony. The nominees were announced on December 11, 2023; Barbie and Succession both tied for the most nominations with nine each, followed by Oppenheimer with eight. Overall, the cultural phenomenon of "Barbenheimer" received a total of 17 nominations, winning a total of seven. The ceremony also featured the debut of two new categories: "Cinematic and Box Office Achievement" and "Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television".
