Battleground (2017) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event and WWE Network event produced by WWE for the SmackDown brand. It took place on July 23, 2017, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the fifth event under the Battleground chronology.

Eight matches were contested at the event, including one match on the pre-show. In the main event, Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton in the third-ever Punjabi Prison match to retain the WWE Championship, which also saw the return of The Great Khali, who last performed in WWE in 2014. On the undercard, Kevin Owens defeated AJ Styles to win his third United States Championship, The New Day defeated The Usos to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and John Cena defeated Rusev in a flag match.
