Welcome to popular Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of a popular Wikipedia page every day.
With 488,488 views on Sunday, 17 December 2017 our article of the day is Sisyphus.
In Greek mythology Sisyphus or Sisyphos (; Greek: Σίσυφος, Sísuphos) was the king of Ephyra (now known as Corinth). He is being punished for his self-aggrandizing craftiness and deceitfulness by being forced to roll an immense boulder up a hill, only to watch it come back to hit him, repeating this action for eternity. Through the classical influence on modern culture, tasks that are both laborious and futile are therefore described as Sisyphean ().
